Dunbar, New Jersey (Reuters) – Dunbar Public Schools will open a new high school building in New Jersey to serve as a community resource center, the school district said on Thursday.
The new building, which is expected to open next year, will be built on the site of an existing high school and is part of the district’s ongoing effort to improve education, Dunbar Mayor Bill Sifuentes said.
The move will benefit more than 100 Dunbar students from high schools in the nearby New York City suburbs, Sifoentes added.
The new building will be designed to be more accommodating for Dunbar’s students, who are predominantly black, Hispanic and Asian, he said.
Dunbar is located in the Hudson Valley and about 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of Newark, the nation’s second-largest city.
