A Mckinsney High student died Monday after suffering a blood clot in his brain.
He was among about 1,000 students who received emergency medical care at Mckinnay High School and other high schools around the nation.
Dr. Mark DePinho of the Mckenzie County Medical Examiner’s Office said it was unclear how the student died.
A number of Mckissing High School students, including the student’s friend, were also taken to hospitals after he collapsed Monday morning.
The student was treated at a local hospital and released, DePiso said.
Mckinneys principal Richard Johnson said students at Mcksing High had a good school spirit, and that they were going to be safe.
The students will return to class Monday.
