Redwood High School teacher arrested on child porn charges

A Redwood, California high school teacher has been arrested on felony charges for allegedly having child pornography on his computer, authorities said.

Redwood police Chief Scott Fennell said in a statement Friday that the arrest is the first since the district notified the state that it had discovered the images.

The district notified California authorities in September after a child pornography complaint was filed by a parent, according to Fennel.

Fennell says the school district is cooperating with the state’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

The task force is investigating the matter.

Police said the case is unrelated to the alleged sexual assault of a student.

The Redwood Police Department said they were notified about the arrest Friday morning and are working with the school to determine the exact nature of the crime.
